IMAC Spanish Language Programs - Learn Spanish in Mexico: what do users think?
K T: Coming here greatly improved my Spanish and was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the city and meet many people.
Oliviana Moreno: i took a couple weeks of spanish here in feb 2022, really enjoyed my time and my teacher was great. when you get there, they have you speak to someone to assess your placement and i felt like i was in just the right class for my level. they have multiple locations where they also teach english and we took field trips and met up with groups of english learners to tour new areas and practice together. i thought that was fun and clever.
Annica S: I researched so many Spanish immersion programs and I'm so happy I chose IMAC. Daniela A. is a fantastic instructor. I will certainly be back.
Robert Albert: I took two weeks of Spanish at this school in December 2022 and was really happy with the experience. Teacher Katya Ramos was excellent and the school was well run: well located, and serious in its mission. Don't expect a fancy facility, but the substance was there. Each week they pair the English and Spanish learners together for language practice on walks through Guadalajara which was particularly fun. ¡Muy bien, IMAC!
Colleen Malone: I spent 5 weeks at IMAC in Guadalajara late in 2022 and loved the experience! If you are serious about improving your Spanish (not just picking up some tourist language), I highly recommend it and I hope to return for further study in 2023.Because I didn't know what to expect I will detail what I experienced: Classes are 4 hours a day (from 9-1) with a 15 min break around 11. I never had a class with more than 5 students in it and usually there were 3 (it fluctuates--see below re: placement). The instruction (and textbook) is entirely in Spanish, only occasionally will the teacher relent and clarify something in English--this is true immersion! There's an optional additional hour intercambio (conversation) from 1-2 with the local students at the same school who are learning English. Additionally, on Wednesdays there is a field trip during class hours --either walking to a nearby location with the local students and exchanging relevant vocab words (once we went to a church, another time to a Christmas market) or taking a bus to another area of town to meet up with the English students at that IMAC location). There's a short test every Friday--I get the sense that it is as much for documenting your progress as it is for evaluating the teachers. I had 3 different instructors in 5 weeks (because of class changes, see below) and two of them were excellent! (If you are lucky enough to get Emmanuel or Katia, please tell them I say hola!) The 4 hours in class went very quickly--there were lots of varied activities/exercises: silly vocabulary games in the form of Taboo or charades, listening to recordings and (trying to) answer questions about th content, written exercises and review, and a lot of "discuss this topic with a partner." And there's a bit of homework too.The intermediate textbook cost me about $50 (US). The grammar lessons and vocab are buried in a context approach--each chapter has a theme (e.g. health, real estate, Spanish history or famous people). I understand this approach but to be honest I would have like more repetitive simple drills on some concepts (which I would find on the internet after class).Re: placement. The schedule of classes is seemingly erratic and solely based on which students show up in a given week. Each course level (beginner, intermediate, etc.) is about 5-6 weeks long. And they seem to start whenever they have enough students at that level (2-3 people) and simply end when it doesn't have any students left--during my 5 weeks there were several folks who came for just a week or two, so every Monday the class configuration was different--someone gone, someone new, and a few folks who were sticking it out from start to finish. In other words, you can start any Monday but you may be starting in the third week of an ongoing course (as I did). It's not really a problem though, as the lessons don't seem to build on each other directly--though presumably the earlier lessons in a course will be easier?Last but not least, here was my scheduling experience for 5 weeks: They initially placed me in the first week of a beginner course but I balked (I came with some vocab and could conjugate present tense verbs so I was pretty full of myself 🙄, and I got put in the next available alternative--the third week of the intermediate course (Chaps 5-6). I was in WAY over my head but I stuck with it for two weeks and learned a LOT (in retrospect starting in the middle of the beginners course may have been more appropriate for me--perhaps too easy but I would have reviewed a lot of foundational stuff that I apparently lacked). And then I joined week 2 of another Intermediate course (Chaps 3-4). There were only 3 of us in that class and we negotiated for the following week to repeat Chaps 1-2 since none of us had done that yet.
maria 1125: They cater to your needs. I am currently in Mexico and have 5 kids who understand Spanish, but don't speak Spanish correctly or fluently enough to get their point across clearly. So, I simply asked for conversational classes. Each of my 5 kids had a teacher for 3 hours for 3 days a week, for 4 weeks. They went over a 20 minute lesson and then had conversations with one break, talking about all sort of things. My kids ranged from 6 to 15 years of age. I decided to do it this way because, if I put them in the same room...only my more verbal kids would speak. This way they were forced to communicate and get out of their comfort zone of simply being a listener in class. The only thing I disliked was that the teachers wore masks. I get it...they are scared even though the studies from France and Germany say the masks don't work. However, because the purpose is to learn correct pronunciation and for that one needs to see mouth movement. Other than that, my kids loved the experience and when we come back we will surely use them again. FYI...I asked the teachers to remove their mask for the picture.
Fernando Steve Gamboas Murillo: Excellent place to learn and develop your English as it has different tools and professional teachers. My favorite part is the conversation between students at the school, like people who come from other places.
John: I was there for 4 weeks starting end of October 2020. I thought the school and classes were great! Instructors were very well educated in the language and how to teach, classes were small, (for me 2 to 4 students) and the atmosphere was friendly and fun. Covid procedures were in placed and strictly followed. I think it's a matter of how hard you want to work at learning. I worked hard and it paid off. I'm back in Guadalajara now (January 2021) and plan to take 4 more weeks of classes. Thanks to Miriam and Daniela for being great instructors!
Sarah Dodson: I highly recommend taking a Spanish-language class at IMAC. I can't recall my teacher's name, but his lessons and attention to detail have remained in my mind and have truly helped me to become a more proficient Spanish speaker. Classes are small and allow each student the opportunity to speak and ask questions (but not "take over" the class). I found that my classmates as well as other students in the school were engaged and dedicated--not just to the classes, but to learning about the city. If I could return this approaching winter, I would in a heartbeat.
Matthew LeClere: I studied at IMAC from October 2017 to December 2017 in one of their intensive Spanish Language programs and wow! Really it was a amazing experience and gave me a super solid foundation/boost in the Spanish language! Now my Spanish is far fom perfect but because of what I gained from them I was able to communicate much more easily with my friends who speak limited English!
Lyle Brown: I studied here two different times for about one or two weeks each time. My experience was great. I met people from all over the world studying Spanish here. It was a lot of fun and it is so great to go to a Spanish speaking country to learn Spanish. Immersing yourself 100% really helps.I stayed farther out of town and took the light rail or a taxi into the city. It was fun and I really enjoyed the experience of living in the city for a bit.My only concern for going again would be the general lack of good restrooms (both at IMAC and in Guadalajara.) They have a lot of English students as well and the restrooms can be a real problem. But overall I was very happy with the experience and one day will return.
sulaiman Aloraini: Great school and they advantage is that they have English and Spanish courses so you could practise your language with local speakersTeachers’ quality is great as well
Kade MacNeille: Great place to learn Spanish! I am a Spanish Teacher in the U.S. and I like to take time once in a while to brush up on my Spanish by immersing myself in the culture and language once more. First off, I have to say that I had a terrific teacher, Corinna, who was very intelligent and attentive. It is also good to note that the school doubles as a Spanish and English school, so part of the experience is participating with the locals in various activities as they practice their English while you practice Spanish. It was blast! The host families are also very friendly and accomodating (all meals included). Overall, for the great price and wonderful experience I wouldn't hesitate to visit again!
Werner Schueller: completely dysfunctional operation. overpriced. poor quality of facilities and teachers.

ITTO - TEFL Certification Courses & Teach English in Mexico: what do users think?
Sue Pierson: I highly recommend the course itself. It far excelled my expectations in both rigor and depth. As a retired elementary teacher, I thought I knew a lot about the art of teaching, but I learned a lot more about the specific needs of EFL learners at ITTO. Our main instructor was an expert in the field and I benefited greatly from his expertise. If I were to rate the course instruction and content on its own, I would definitely rate it 5.stars. However, because of some significant communication issues regarding my accommodation arrangements while attending the course and my registration for the free week of Spanish classes offered by ITTO after the 4 week course, I have to give the ITTO organization as a whole only 3 stars. Although I was notified by my appointed course advisor, before my arrival, that my 5 week stay was confirmed at a local apartment building, along with my registration for the Spanish class, neither of these proved to be true. I was told after 4 weeks that my apartment was booked for the following week to someone else. The manager had no clue about my reservation for 5 weeks. Consequently, I had to quickly find alternative accommodation at a much higher price. When I arrived at the Spanish class the next week, they did not know who I was. I was also told that there were no beginner classes that week, only intermediate. I had specified that I was a complete beginner in Spanish when I registered. I tried out the class they offered me, but quickly realized that it was way over my head. Had I realized that, I would never have registered for it. Although the administrator and staff at ITTO were profusely apologetic about both issues, I was not offered any compensation for what was a serious communication fail on their part, ending up costing me a lot more than I anticipated and my not receiving what I was promised. I strongly advise anyone who is interested in taking this course to verify all the details regarding your accommodation and registration to avoid a repetition of my experience. The staff at ITTO are very kind and hardworking people but their communication with the outside parties that provide services for their trainees is sadly lacking.
Joe Bitch: Do not waste time or money sent wife and she was horribly horrified by everything there
SooIcey Ent: Worst place ever wasted 2500$ on poor teaching skills as well as facility place stunk so did the people that went also look at the video's of graduates 😂🤪that right there should stop you wish I would’ve seen those first😆😂💯
Foxx Blackk: Terrible dont waste ya money please save your self
She C: As a certified teacher of 10 years going into this program, I was impressed. I have taught ESL in public schools, and wanted my international certification to teach abroad. I chose this program last year and loved it! The course is 120 hours for 4 weeks, and I was truly amazed how well it was organized. Professor Del Alto was very informative, and passionate about the English language. The only critique I would have would be on the lack of classroom management. ***Classroom management is important, but each school has their own expectations of how it should be implemented. For this reason, it was not a strong focus of the coursework.**This program is centered on teaching high school, or adults so I would STRONGLY suggest to study classroom management before you jump into an elementary school setting. If you're wanting a job in an elementary school then reach out to all your teacher friends and they can give you a plethora of resources to help you in that first year.I personally did not need job placement because I am contracted to teach for the next year in my home state, but I will use the job services in the future when I'm ready to teach abroad. Overall, it's definitely worth every penny for the experience!
Savvy Souljar: I enjoyed my 4 week course at ITTO in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico 🇲🇽 It was an intense course, but staff were very supportive and I was able to keep up and successfully meet all the requirements for graduation 👩🏽‍🎓. I have since then gone on to successfully complete my Business English certification which was all online. It was 1998 when I received my bachelors degree. If I can do, anybody can do it.
Dan Parks: ITTO Guadalajara is incredible. Every aspect of my experience there exceeded expectations. The course was fantastic, in-depth, and taught by an excellent mentor. The administration was very professional and helpful. The practice teaching was invaluable. The facilities are clean and conveniently located. All in all, an amazing experience and incredibly well organized, I highly recommend it!
wylie demin: Far more hands on and educating than I anticipated, and only in a good way. ITTO ensures that you will become a competent and skilled English teach in just three short weeks. Highly recommend, and the staff is great.
Jamie Neavill: The intensive 4 week course covers grammar/pronunciation points, teaching methods, classroom management, and gives teaching practice. Surely it is difficult to cover ALL that is needed to prepare a teacher in one short month, but I believe that students are made aware of various topics/situations that they will come across as English teachers and are given resources to prepare for them. Having nearly 0 teaching practice before coming to ITTO, after taking the course I do feel much more prepared to begin a career as an English teacher.-Jamie
Nikki A: Thanks to my month-long International Teacher Training Organization (ITTO) course in Guadalajara, I now feel prepared for a career in English language teaching. The authentic teaching practices in IMAC set this course apart from other courses. Not only have I been able to learn best practice English teaching theories and skills, I have also been able to put them into practice regularly with the teaching practices in IMAC and with peers in our ITTO classroom. Thanks so much to Marc (our trainer) and to the girls in the office. You make ITTO such a warm and inviting place to be. We were especially impressed with Marc. He is knowledgeable, talented AND incredibly patient and calm.
Natálie Petkovová: Absolutely excellent. When applying for the TEFL course in Guadalajara, Mexico, I was taken perfect care of by one of the advisors who guided me through the whole process and was always there to support me and help out.The course itself was led by a very professional trainer with years of experience in teaching English and after completing all of the teaching practices I felt very ready to start working right away - which, thanks to ITTO, happened. They kept their promise of a job placement and I started working a week after graduating. If you're still hesitating whether to do it or no, the answer is definitely YES! :)
Nik Tourani: This in-person TEFL course was really amazing! If you’re looking for a TEFL certification course with extensive teaching practice, then this is the place. They partner with a neighboring language school called IMAC so that trainees get 10 practice teaching lessons with real students learning English. I really benefited from all of the practice, and Prof. Del Alto, who teaches the course, is such a passionate and dedicated instructor, he really knows his stuff. He also works at the University of Guadalajara with their languages department, along with being an all-around amazing teacher of English with plenty of experience teaching in Mexico as well. Highly highly recommend this course if you want to feel more confident about stepping into the classroom than you might with only an online course.
elizabeth b: It is with great pain and sadness that I write this review owing to my love and respect to the employees of ITTO, the students at IMAC, and the Mexican people in general. I first started online taking classes from ITTO because they offered 100% job placement upon completion of the online component as well as the teaching practicum at the adjoining English school, IMAC. Therefore it was great joy and expense that I headed to Guadalajara to complete the teaching practicum and begin work. And even though I completed both teaching components with high marks, I was never offered employment in Mexico though I waited three months for an assignment. Further, ITTO is without excuse since their affiliated English school, IMAC, need only hire me for, say, three classes a week, in order to fulfill their commitment. All and all, I spent just under four months in Mexico expecting to work, four months that cost me a lot of money, but ITTO was unfaithful to their guarantee. True, I came to love Mexico more and more during this time, but ITTO should not advertise 100% job placement if they cannot fulfill it. I therefore cannot recommend ITTO though I do love Mexico as well as all the staff and students I met at IMAC and ITTO.
Donna Dixon: I am changing my review from one star to five stars because ITTO has resolved an error that was on my account. Thank you to Treisi for caring about your TEFL students' success and happiness.

Céfiro Chak Chak: It is full of bullies, abuse and cheap bureaucracy

Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO): what do users think?
Andrea Pineda: From the moment you arrive, this university offers a marvelous landscape with buildings surrounded by a forest and impeccably maintained gardens. The place offers an unbeatable place for study and learning. The staff treats the visitor kindly and cordially and its students are a reflection of the institution.
Elena G.: In my case, I was very disappointed in this place, I thought that because I was a Jesuit the students would care more, but that is not the case, my daughter received too much building, which caused a drop in her grades because she had a hard time concentrating, instead to help her, they dropped her, they no longer allowed her to do the following semester, thus losing this year.So I don't know why it has the prestige of a good university when they do nothing to help the student in need. One star because I can't put zero on them.
Lalo: The best university in Guadalajara. I was at the tec, and iteso is much better. Everyone is friendly, kind, understanding.
Magnum_357 tbcbr (Magnum 357): Good ample parking and manicured grounds
Benjamín Pérez: Excellent facilities. The woodland is unique. Spatially and academically one of the best on offer.
José Calderon Torres: Excellent school and the service is magnificent
rich pear: Like any other school, nothing extraordinary.
María del Mar Cabria Zanella: They made the smartest person I know kill himself for a scholarship and in the end they didn't give it to him. She is in a thousand extra academic classes, she has 100 closed and it was the condition that her parents put on her. What a father that they have little trees and that their vibe is beautiful, but what a bad plan that their scholarship system is so poor.
Gustavo Rueda: Beautiful campus and top notch education.Highly recommended
guillermo cruces: Beautiful campus!
MB Valenzuela González: A good school, for those looking for a good school highly recommended !!!
fabiola Rentería: Beautiful facilities 🌿 super professional and attentive to the students 🙌🏼 unique experience.
Abraham De León Gutiérrez: All good, just remove the online classes we are no longer in a pandemic
Exótico V: The visitor parking lot does not have a place for the disabled and it is a very difficult cobblestone to move on.
Martha Olivia Barrera: Private university with a high academic level, humane treatment and always seeking improvement through knowledge
Darshan Patel: IEEE event attended by #indiamexico
Cesar hernandez: It is always a pleasure to visit the Iteso facilities. Modern, comfortable, good attention. Widely recommended
Arnulfo Misael Saldaña Perez: Brilliant
Nayar Gutierrez: The best
Claudia Garrocho: Excellent institution. Quality, warmth and friendliness from the moment you ask for reports until you finish your studies.

Janeth Villa: Excellent facilities and always in favor of the integral development of youth
Hugo Lopez: Nice university, its baseball and football fields in poor condition, as well as its stands for visiting teams, the bathrooms in these deplorable fields, that is, their American categories are very good.
Babayaga 17: 4 years of studying there. I can say my criticisms as the administration is fatal and they should allocate more budget to the flagship career that is medicine. The remaining ones available horrible and expensive. Accepting many students sacrifice parking and facilities. Good to collect bad to pay.Hopefully in 5 years I can still boast that I'm from there but they need to change but now.
Jorge Flores Chavez: A university with a great offer for students and a very good place to work.
L M: excellent universityThe place is very large, it has green areas where you can rest, the classrooms are mostly remodeled, there is a library, laboratories, etc.The university is wheelchair accessible, HOWEVER the ramps are TERRIBLE to use and unfortunately not all areas are accessible. It has a cafeteria with very good food and at a good price. It also has food establishments of all kinds, prices and tastes.Inside there is a uniform store for the races that need their use and a gonvill bookstore where you can buy the necessary books for your classes. There are soccer fields, tennis, pool, gym for all kinds of sports.Thank you!
Gisselle Guzman: If you have the opportunity to study at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, DISAPPOINT IT academically it is good but administratively they don't even know what they are doing, they notify you 1 day before about super important things and they always make you responsible for problems that are theirs
PAOLO ORTEGA: The attention to telephone calls is SUPER slow, they do not answer, they leave you standing there with the phone all the time in the waiting room and I even sent my information about 15 times so that they call me but 0 answer and I am an interested party of this university.
Juan Vargas: 💯👍
paolamargarita Vargas: Excellent place to study and do extracurricular activities
Farid Jose Penichet: the best university
Luis Enrique Garcia Arellano: Great for panoramas and graduation souvenir photo.
Rocío Páez Vázquez: Excellent prestige and trajectory, 88 years signing professionals!
jenny santos: Excellent educational center for something even foreigners come to train professionally
Hector Veloz: Excellent Saturday lanliga"
Claudia Macias: Excellent University 😃
Magdalena Uribe: The quality of treatment for students has gone down a lot, they have a lot of problems when it comes to qualifying them and they solve nothing, they only see their economic gains, there are also problems for the practices, the internship and its service and the best team that they had for their practices they took them to the building of the students who come from the US and Canada 😡😡😡
Jaime Romero: excellent university
Omero Leopoldo Centeno Muñoz: I work there
Javier Velazquez: Excelente universidad
KaTH GDL: Instalaciones geniales! Atención excelente y muy buena disposición. La universidad muy grande y todo está ubicado de forma fácil de encontrar.

Maria Partida: By invitation we went to eat, the restaurant was very busy and had good service, although for my taste the dishes left a lot to be desired......a tortilla soup that was pure packaged puree......an imitation of birria......in short, nothing to do with other times, I think that food is something that should be taken care of because of the "prestige" of the Club.
Jose Adrian: El mejor

Instituto Mexico Americano de Cultura: what do users think?
Gloria Rodriguez: It's a very good school!
Stevo Steverino: Was apprehensive at first, not knowing what to expect. The school is very organized, but make sure you get the book(s) materials early - they may not have, my only negative. This was fun, AND hard work. I took 6 weeks of classes, it really helped me feel more part of the culture - interacting with Mexicans every day, and making friends with los Estudiantes Extranjeros. You will not become fluent in 3 or 6 weeks but you WILL have the opportunity to move forward dramatically. I liked the materials and the subject matter it used for each chapter.By book 2 you are listening to somewhat complicated conversations, and understanding better. You get to practice with locals, and they - their inglés with you. (maybe 2/3 of the students are studying english?) The Mexican students are super nice. There are Wednesday trips to visit significant places or historical sites, and you pair up one-on-one with Mexican students. This is a chance to ask questions about just about anything you want about the culture. Some of the foreign students have been to the school before, and come back to learn more. I am considering the same for myself. Guadalajara is a huge candy store once you become comfortable with it.
Dylan Román: Terrible service and quality.
manuela ochoa: Very good school, I highly recommend it, a good teacher I had and the teaching plan is good.
Jose Rafael Gonzalez Sanchez: Thats very cool
Cecy “Pixineko” Cervantes: It is a good place to learn, the plan is intensive and worth it.Highly recommended.
Abigail Ramírez: What's up with the bad comments?I recently studied at IMAC, and it was one of my best experiences, the teachers were super good and pleasant, the facilities were clean, and I really like that it is in a central building since it makes it more beautiful inside, I highly recommend it. I've been to many English schools and all of them were horrible.Cheer up without fear!!! ❤️
Brenda Lujano: Super bad experience lousy administration they changed our teacher every 15 days they didn't even have us registered as a group lousy zero I recommend this school there are many very good English schools but IMAC Zero recommendable
Gus: Undoubtedly the best option to learn English, you will love it from the first day. It also has many options that can be adjusted to your schedules📚
Isiani Franco: Excellent English school.
HÉCTOR MIGUEL: Not even a week ago I published a complaint they asked me to send an email and nothing, today due to my need to change the schedule I ran into another scam attempt, they told me that if I go back a level they will deduct a payment from the that I did in advance why is it not for academic reasons. The lady who identified herself as Monserrat told me that since I had already repeated two levels, two payments had already been deducted. The only thing missing was that they steal my advance payments and use it as blackmail so that one cannot repeat courses, when they sold me the course they never mentioned that, they even told me that for twenty pesos I could return it as many times as necessary and that I considered. It also says that neither the administrator nor the coordinator can attend to me because they went to eat and come back until four and I dial at one. Now are you going to attend to me or do I send you another Mail? They haven't answered me. I think they only put that here to send your email so you don't put it anymore, but either they return my money or they give me a solution.
Guzz gzz: They don't have cleaning staff on site? It smells horrible, like drainage, they should do something because that damages the image of their school a lot. I can't comment on the classes or the level because I really didn't want to enroll
madmaxpowermx: Today I went to ask for reports and the truth is that I didn't even want to sign up, the place has a disgusting smell like drainage, I can't imagine smelling like that during classes.
Rocio Aguirre: Too bad you can't put ZERO STARS. My reasons?1. It's a HORRIBLE PLACE!!!!! physically it is horrendous, at least the Guadalajara branch, nothing to do with the photos they put on their website.2. By message they are zero cordial and they send you the link of their website as the only method of information because they don't care to attend to your messages.3. When you go in person you are greeted by 2 girls at the reception, sorry, they are a couple of assholes who know absolutely nothing because when you ask them they don't know what to answer and they only read what is on their website and they think that with that they give you reports. AND BY THE WAY!! one of them left me hanging with her partner and never showed up again. SUPER RUDE!!!4. By force they want to make you take their English classes and they argue by telling you that they give you a placement test when you were only looking for one of their additional courses, but not their classes.5. Their online classes are simple recorded videos, there are no teachers who give you online classes as they say on their website.6. They tell you that you practice with foreigners when nothing to see.THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE STUDYING ENGLISH AT THIS SCHOOL. IF THIS IS THEIR QUALITY OF ATTENTION, IMAGINE THEIR ACADEMIC QUALITY.SOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Alan Ramirez: I really liked it so much that I go to classes and in fact my mother was taking English and my brothers were also going, that's why I highly recommend this school in terms of English
Alejandro Nolasco: excellent institution
Carlos de Jesús Villalobos Alvarez: Well, it fulfills its purpose, not in the best way, they never change teachers or at least during three levels that I studied it was always the same, the audiovisual areas do not work, neither does the classroom equipment, but it does what it "offers" In relation to price-quality, personally I did not like his methodology but that was personally.
Dyvaan: I study there, the teachers are highly trained and the administration is always very attentive
Araceli Ontiveros Mtz: It is an excellent English school.Only that the facilities require more maintenance
Diego Cuevas: Very good school!!
